The region is located just inland from the coastal area of Guardamar del Segura on the southern Costa Blanca. With an average annual temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. With more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year, it is very easy to enjoy a great day in Rojales.
Rojales comes alive on Thursday mornings when the weekly market takes place beside the river in the town centre. People come from near and far to buy fresh vegetables and browse the bargains.
In the centre of town there are a variety of shops including three good supermarkets, as well as many restaurants include tapas bars, cafes, and pubs. There are also several banks. With only 20 minutes’ drive you find La Zenia Boulevard, one of the most popular shopping Centre of the Costa Blanca. Within only 15 minutes’ drive from Rojales, you find the beautiful beaches of the blue Costa Blanca. This is the colour of most of its 57 flags, demonstrating the quality of the waters of its 200 kilometres of coast. This makes Alicante the province with the most awards of this type in the whole of Spain. It has over 170 beaches and coves where the sun shines for over 300 days a year. From Alicante to Pilar de la Horadada, there is a landscape, with the steep coves turning into dunes, especially in Guardamar del Segura, wetlands and salt marshes, such as the Lagunas de la Mata in Torrevieja and El Hondo in Elche, which are not easy to access in other areas.
In addition to the crystal clear waters you can enjoy on the coast, we must also highlight the quality of the services offered in this region, including an impressive hotel and catering industry with a wide range of bars and restaurants on the seafront for visitors to enjoy, as well as the endless number of activities for water sport lovers. Restaurants, terraces and bars from which to watch the sunset, accessible beaches, activities for children, windsurfing, sailing and scuba diving. You can also enjoy some time alone by listening to the waves, watching the calm water and going to places in which you can get lost.
CULTURE AND ATTRACTIONS
Walking through Rojales is a pleasure, in the town centre there is a very pretty church, a local museum and a lovely village square where you can sit and watch the world go by. The river Segura runs through the centre of Rojales, it’s a lovely place to while away a few hours in the evening. Enjoying the panoramic view of the Charles III Bridge, whose magnificent pillars cross the Segura River. The nearby cave houses are great places to explore with their local art displays and there is a house with millions of shells on the inside and outside. A lifetime’s labour of love by its owner. A set of caves excavated in the mountain in the eighteenth century, made by Murcian miners who came to Rojales to work in agricultural work. Their experience as stonecutters led them to build their dwelling in the rock, giving rise to a true underground urban plot.
The Mediterranean cuisine finds in this town one of its clearest exponents, where the combination of fresh vegetables and meat of own breeding animals give rise to dishes of genuine flavour: Delicious rices with rabbit, with vegetables or serranas; tasty potato tortillas, artichokes or tender beans; and the traditional “cocido con pelotas” head the colourful culinary repertoire of Rojales. The gastronomy of the municipality also offers a wide range of desserts and pastries, a sweet heritage of the artisan bakers of the town and of the traditional family food, which is maintained in the popular wisdom of the reds.
LA MARQUESA GOLF
The field is located in a flat valley between mountains and protected by a unique microclimate that allows the game throughout the year. He has turned 20 years old and around him there was an important population growth. During all these years there have been important changes, both technical improvements and design, but always respecting the principle of offering a varied course, where the player can, in addition to practicing his favourite sport, have fun. We are facing a rather urban field and with excellent benefits. The route that presents during its 18 holes is rather comfortable and without great unevenness, short distances between green and tees.
